Happy New Year!

We love that Bountiful Baskets saves people lots of money, and that’s certainly a large part of our mission! AND… the value extends way beyond that. Are serious about making changes in how you eat? Take a look at these things:

Variety and Selection – We all have our favorites, but science shows that changing it up and getting a full complement of fruits and veggies really helps our health. There are different phytonutrients in each fruit and vegetable and they are each beneficial in their own way! We get local whenever we can, and that reduces our carbon footprint and gets you seasonal produce at its peak.

Timeline and Accessibility – Commitment to eat a basket a week, or one every other week, keeps you on track! It provides incentive to eating whole foods and reducing other not-so-nutritious snacks. If you want to see how much better you can feel, eliminate added sugar and processed foods in favor of fruits and vegetables!

Community and Accountability – Get involved at your site! The friendships and fun will keep you coming back and eating healthy. Having a social aspect to your changes will really help them stick! It’s nice to be part of a group is passionate about produce and can suggest recipes and fun ways to eat the variety you get!

Apples

Approx 35 Lbs

This is a lovely eating apple, or stock up and process snacks! Dried apples, apples sauce, fruit rolls, apple pie filling (for pies or crisps!), apple butter! Plenty of options to make some healthy and delicious snacks and treats!

Broccoli

Approx 14 bunches

Perfect for finger-food snacks in lunchboxes! Great to par boil and freeze! Make last-minute dinners easy. I soak in salt water, cut into consistent size, then rinse well. Blanche, plunge immediately into ice water to cool, and freeze in freezer bags. If you have an electric pressure cooker, prep the same way, put in steamer basket, add 1 cup water, and set on high/manual for 0 (zero!) minutes and carefully manually release immediately. Perfect, hands-free steamed broccoli!

Oranges

Approx 113 count

Approx 38 Lbs

Very sweet and delicious! Great for eating and juicing. We freeze the juice in freezer bags for pick-me-ups, and as orange juice ice cubes to add to smoothies, our morning orange juice glasses, and for holiday punch!

Roma Tomatoes

Salsa, Tomato Sauce, Diced Tomatoes, Roasted Tomatoes, they all start with Romas! These tomatoes will be the basis for so many amazing meals for your family.
